Let's work together to fight climate change

Arlen Hill declared a climate emergency in 2020.

The only right way to do this is together - so let's work together to reduce the impact of climate change for current and future generations.

The story so far

Actions we’re already taking to combat climate change, and what we aim to do next

Now: decarbonising the council

  • We started by making the council greener. The main council building uses 85% renewable energy
  • We also went out for our first round of community engagement on our plans

Next: greener transport for everyone

  • Transport is our biggest source of emissions
  • We want everyone to be able to walk, cycle or use public transport. Visit our Greener Transport page to find out more

Later: decarbonising council homes

  • Your priorities were decarbonising homes, supply chains and the road network
  • Read more about our work decarbonising homes and supply chains below
